Prime minister Sheikh Hasina has urged the people not to be misled by BNP's lies.

"Those who are liars by nature will keep on lying," she said on Tuesday at Awami League's meeting observing the Martyred Intellectuals Day at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center.

"The opposition's chief task is to establish the anti-liberation forces and killers of the intellectuals."

"Those who want to destroy the spirit of freedom can only pretend to sympathise with the people," she said.

"No matter how much they conspire, they cannot suppress the people."

Hasina highlighted her government's achievements, saying, "The economy has been strengthened. Investment has grown. We are working against militancy and terrorism.

"The development is an eyesore for many."

The ruling party president urged everyone to compare the first 23 months of her government with that of the BNP-led alliance.

Awami League presidium member Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury chaired the meeting. Advisory council member A K Azad Chowdhury, Dhaka metropolitan Awami League acting president M A Aziz and general secretary Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya spoke among others at the meeting.
