Prices of most shares dropped further on Thursday continuing a losing streak that sent the general index of the country’s premier bourse below 4,000 during the week.
The benchmark general index (DGEN), the gauge of Dhaka Stock Exchange, lost 41 points or 1.07 percent to reach 3,845 points at the end of trading hours.
Of the issues traded on the DSE, 78 advanced, 170 declined and 12 remained unchanged.
A total of 77,120 trades were executed, generating Tk 168.67 crore on the Dhaka bourse.
The DGEN opened favourably with gains of nearly 100 points in the first 20 minutes. However, in the following 10 minutes it lost most of its gains.
After that, the index picked up an uptrend climbing to the day’s highest value of 3,966 points at 12:30pm.
It started drooping since then slipping to the lowest value of the day of 3,820 points at 2:40pm.
In a massive downtrend on Wednesday, the DGEN shed 266 to plunge to 3,887 points.
